Before contactless mobile payments became widespread, Nocash developed an RFID wristband payment solution for bars. The project covered hardware sourcing, mobile development, backend services, hosting and real-world trials.

Bars needed a faster way to handle purchases and reduce friction at busy service points. At the time, consumer phones did not yet provide today's common contactless-payment capabilities.

How was the solution developed?
The team created the company and managed a constrained development budget covering product design, software, hosting and wristband production.
RFID wristbands and related goods were manufactured in China. A cross-platform mobile application was developed with C# and Xamarin, while the backend used Python and Django.

The payment platform operated during 2020 and 2021 and reached an initial field-testing stage.
The project was ultimately stopped after the prolonged impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the hospitality sector.

Nocash validated a complete contactless-payment concept before mobile contactless capabilities became mainstream.
Although market conditions prevented commercial continuation, the project demonstrated OAAS's ability to deliver hardware-connected payments, mobile software and secure backend infrastructure as one product.
